Evidence
before claims.

Supplement marketing is loud because it can be. Evidence is quieter, slower and harder — which is exactly why we intend to lead with it.

Position

Why we start
with evidence.

A supplement is something a person puts into their body, often daily, usually for months. That deserves a higher standard of explanation than most product categories receive.

Evidence gives a customer something a slogan cannot: a reason. It explains why an ingredient is included, what is reasonably understood about it, and where the limits of that understanding sit. It also protects the customer from us — because a brand that commits to evidence has to stop when the evidence stops.

The Difference

Marketing language
vs evidence.

The two can look similar on a label. They are not the same thing, and the difference is usually where trust is lost.

Marketing language

  • Sounds definitive.
  • Describes a feeling.
  • Cannot be checked.
  • Ages badly.

Evidence

  • States what is known.
  • Describes a measurement.
  • Can be traced to a source.
  • Improves as it is tested.

Where wording about a product's effects requires regulatory confirmation before publication, JR Labs will complete that review first. We would rather say less at launch than correct ourselves afterwards.

Principles

What this means
in practice.

01 —

Why ingredient transparency matters

If a customer cannot see what is in a product and how much of it is there, they cannot assess it — and neither can anyone else. Full disclosure makes a product reviewable by the people who buy it, and by anyone qualified to check it.

02 —

Why documentation matters

Quality is a record, not an adjective. Specifications, supplier documentation and batch records are what turn a statement about quality into something that can be verified after the fact.

03 —

Why claims require scrutiny

Claims about health and performance carry regulatory obligations and real consequences for the person reading them. Every claim we make should survive being questioned — by a customer, a retailer or a regulator.

04 —

Why we communicate plainly

Technical language can be used to inform or to intimidate. We aim to explain in ordinary English, define terms where they are needed and avoid complexity that exists only to impress.

If we can't evidence it,
we don't say it.

How we intend to work

Research. Verification. Transparency.

01

Research

Use published evidence to understand ingredients and frame questions before we make claims.

02

Verification

Use specifications, documentation and appropriate testing to check that the finished product matches what we say it is.

03

Transparency

Publish what can be substantiated and clearly distinguish completed evidence from what is still in development.

Transparency Library

Coming with
product launch.

These areas are intentionally empty. They will be populated with real material when our first product has been manufactured — not with placeholder content in the meantime.

Coming with product launch

Research

Plain-English summaries of the published research relevant to the ingredients we use, with references to the original sources.

Coming with product launch

Testing

What was tested, by whom and what the results were — published for the product and batch the testing relates to.

Product documentation

Specifications, ingredient declarations and supporting documentation for each product we release.

JR Labs does not publish research summaries, test results or product documentation that do not yet exist. Nothing on this page should be read as evidence of completed testing for a pre-launch product.
